Jingle Bells on the Stamps!
2015-12-08 Tue
With the chilly winter setting in, it is once again a time for confetti, fire crackers and a lot of festive fun. Christmas is around the corner! Many countries around the globe have Christmas special stamps. These stamps show an array of events and activities that one can pursue during the wintery, snowy Christmas holidays.
A 17 penny stamp issued by Great Britain in 1990 shows children making a snowman. On another stamp from 1997 Santa appears as the man in the moon while pulling a cracker with the help of two children. There are amazingly beautiful and varied Christmas traditions all over the world and most of them have been depicted on the stamps issued by the respective countries.
India too has issued commemorative Christmas special postage stamps on 8th December, 2008 with the denominative values of Rs. 5 and Rs. 20. The Rs. 5 stamp depicts a flock of sheep having a thick coat and the Rs.20 stamp depicts a mother (Mary) cradling a child (Jesus) in her arms.
Happy Collecting!
